The ever increasing scarcity of fossil fuels and other energy sources means there has never been a better time to consider saving energy in the home and in the car. The increasing prices of power, which are likely to keep increasing, means that alternative sources of energy are being developed that are becoming more viable.

Conserve Energy is a new site that I am developing to help people make decisions about saving energy and using alternative sources of energy, to help save a few quid, and maybe in a small world, help to save the planet too.

Howopia.co.uk is website dedicated to publishing How to guides in  a similar fashion to eHow in the US.

The site is very much UK focussed and the idea is that anyone, normally professional writers or people who would be considered experts within their chosen field, write the guides and the site shares the advertising revenue with them.

This is a website that I set up in partnership with Mark Smith, formerly of TMN Group plc. I set up Howopia.co.uk using the Drupal CMS framework which gives the site a great deal of functionality. We operate a strict editorial process to ensure only quality guides are published, and we have a workflow in place to ensure each written article is reviewed by an editor before being published or sent back to the author for a rewrite.

Howopia.co.uk officially launched in December 2010 and by June 2011 has almost 100 articles and over 300 authors.

Another CMS project for accountancy firm, website Davidjbeeny.co.uk. This was the second website I had built for this small firm of regional accountants in South Devon.

This version utilised WordPress for ease of use and quick updating. It also means that the firm could easily incorporate new features in the future without any additional programming.

I get lots of people and companies asking me if I can set up or improve a website for them. Two of the first of such sites I set up for some clients were CoSector Network and Jo Ouston Career coaching professionals. Read the rest of this entry »
